Seated Scripture Guanyin Bodhisattva
April – Devoted Abode, Protecting Oneself and Others
The pandemic situation is still affecting our social lives, yet inner selves need to flow steadily. Maintaining a high morale does not have to mean going out with family and friends; comfort can also be found when we are staying at home with family or alone, living safely and in peace. Reminiscent of Indra’s Net metaphor, may we protect ourselves and others, closely intertwined as a community.
■ Seated Scripture Guanyin Bodhisattva China | Ming dynasty #4@101
This Scripture Guanyin holds onto a roll of scripture, and is one of the 33 ‘responsive manifestations’ set out in “Universal Gateway of Guanyin Bodhisattva” chapter in the Lotus Sutra. It says, “In case the sentient being should be delivered as a Hearer (śrāvaka), Guanyin Bodhisattva will manifest in the body of a Hearer to give guidance.”
Find a place to concentrate, for example at home! Anything that you do, concentration and discovering your inner self can bring the utmost pleasure. With a calm state of mind, you can start to appreciate how the outdoors and indoors are equally as beautiful. May you enjoy this solitude of being indoors and the beauty of reading too!
