[Jul 31] The Murals of Guanyin Sutra in Dunhuang

Buddhism and Buddhist art entered China along the Silk Road. Among the development process of Buddhist art, it has slowly contained with the localised elements, culture and thinking. The Dunhuang Mogao Caves preserved the largest scale, longest construction time, and richest content of the Buddhist artworks in the world. The speaker will analyse the changes in the Guanyin Sūtra of Dunhuang during the Tang dynasty, discussing the various phenomena of Guanyin Bodhisattva’s salvation, responding to the needs and teachings of and to all sentient beings.
